JONESBORO, AR - Arkansas State University is getting some room to grow. The university's board of trustees has approved a 30-year, $43 million bond issue to purchase land adjacent to the Jonesboro campus and to construct and renovate several high priority projects.
The purchase of the nearly 31 acres includes undeveloped land and 40 platted lots, with 36 rental units.
ASU President Les Wyatt says the purchase will define the perimeter of the Jonesboro campus. He says the parcel is the last major one owned by the Arkansas State College Foundation and will be an asset to the university because of its location, existing structures and future development opportunities.
