Large turnout for Paint-a-Pumpkin event

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- Several people showed up at the Forrest L. Wood Crowley's Ridge Nature Center Saturday afternoon to create their own Arkansas critters just in time for Halloween. At least 100 kids were at the center in south Jonesboro with their families for Paint-a-Pumpkin.

"This is a wonderful way to come out with your family, spend quality time. We love introducing our visitors to hunting, fishing and watcable wildlife," said Lee Elkins, Education Project Specialist at the center.

Elkins said the center provided paint, pumpkins, paper, glue and many other supplies for those who wanted to paint at no charge. She said supplies and disposable aprons were provided thanks to a 1/8 cent conservation tax. Elkins said the event wouldn't have happened without the taxpayer support.

Elkins said there are many other programs and events happening for families each weekend. For more information on events like the one in this story, click here.
