Governor Still Considering Referendum Request on Consolidation Plan

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Huckabee says he is still considering asking Arkansas to vote on his school consolidation plan because legislators have yet to approve a permanent solution to the state's public school problem.

The Arkansas Supreme Court gave the state until January 1 to address deficiencies in the public school system but legislators adjourned for the holiday after passing only a temporary funding fix.

Today, courts are open, and Huckabee and legislators have said a lawsuit could be filed against the state for its failure to meet the January first deadline.
