DEWITT, AR - K8 News has learned that Arkansas' First District Congressman, Marion Berry, is hospitalized near his hometown of Gillette with a gastro-intestinal condition.

According to Berry spokesman Drew Nannis, the veteran Democrat was admitted to the DeWitt Hospital on Saturday due to complications from diverticulitis, which he described as a non-life threatening gastro-intestinal condition.

"We're going to leave that up to his doctors," Nannis said this afternoon when asked if he had any idea when the Congressman might be released from the hospital.  "It probably depends on how soon he can talk them into it," Nannis said with a laugh.
