ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - A St. Francis Xavier Cathedral music director is being sought after Missouri authorities accused him of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Archdiocese of St. Louis over a 2-year period.
According to Jennifer Joyce, circuit attorney of St. Louis, Maximillian Tenney, a St. Francis Xavier Cathedral music director, faces one count of theft in excess of $25,000 and an additional 15 counts of forgery.
The Town Talk (http://townta.lk/uayILA ) reported Saturday that Alexandria police said Tenney has not committed a crime in the area, but they were asked to help find Tenney.
An audit conducted in July 2010 revealed numerous improper disbursements from the cathedral choir bank account. Twelve checks were written payable to Tenney's father and deposited in a bank in his father's name.
