Paragould Police: 21-year-old shoots two female teenagers

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Paragould Police have released the name of the suspect in a Saturday night shooting that injured two women.

According to Paragould Police, 21-year-old Jerry Young shot two 18-year-old women Saturday night at the Franklin Apartments. Police have not released a motive in the shooting.

Around 11pm Saturday night police responded to a shooting call at the Franklin Apartments on North 10th Avenue.

Apartment residents and the landlord said one of the victims is four months pregnant.  Police have yet to confirm.

Paragould resident Jerry Farrow who lives near Franklin Apartments said the incident does not surprise him. "I can't really say everybody in that apartment complex is of the criminal life, but it just seems odd no matter what day of the week you go down there, there's always police tape covering the doors."

Farrow has lived in his home for almost a year.  He said crime is rampant in his neighborhood.  "I've had to call the cops over here just from the drug addicts two days ago, over here and demolishing my yard with trash," he said.

Young is charged with first degree battery, terroristic threatening, and two drug related charges. No word yet on when he's next due in court.
