SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's bowling finished second at the Greater Ozark Invitational after the final round of play on Sunday.
A-State entered the day with the No. 1 seed heading into match player and began the day by defeated Valparaiso 4-3 in the opening round The Red Wolves then defeated Elmhurt 4-0 in the second round before losing to Valparaiso 4-1 in the finals.
"For a first event of the season a 10-3 record is a good start," ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "We gave to sure a few things before we go to our next tournament in a few weeks but all in all I thought it was a good team effort and take second place in a tournament with a field like this is a good start to the season."
Rachel Gittings was named tournament MVP after winning the individual portion of the tournament on Friday, while Sarah Lokker was named to the all-tournament team.
The ASU bowling team will return to action Nov. 11-13 at the Crusader Classic in Merrillville, Ind.
