January 8, 2004 - Posted at 7:53 a.m. CDT

POPLAR BLUFF, MO - A southeast Missouri man is ordered to spend life behind bars in the killing of a Cape Girardeau father of seven.

A Butler County judge this week sentenced Jibril Walton to 15 years for involuntary manslaughter and a life sentence for armed criminal action.

Jurors convicted Walton in November in the August 2002 shooting death of Billy Jones, Jr.

The shooting happened on the National Guard Armory's parking lot in Cape Girardeau, where Walton and Jones were in separate cars parked next to each other.

Walton's case was transferred to Poplar Bluff in Butler County on a change of venue.
