LITTLE ROCK, AR --A former chief jailer for Crittenden County indicted for allegedly abusing an inmate can remain free until he is put on trial.
U-S Magistrate Judge John Forster Junior ruled yesterday that 58-year-old Robert D- Bretherick of West Memphis can remain free until his March 15th trial.
But his release is on the condition he stays away from anyone who may testify against him.
Bretherick was arrested Friday, charged with violating the civil rights of an inmate and tampering with a witness.
He's accused of kicking an inmate in the head, splitting open a scalp wound that had been closed the day before with surgical staples
