RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (Harding) - Harding senior kicker and punter Eddy Carmona has been named the GAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season after his stellar kicking display in a 23-16 overtime loss to East Central on the road this past Saturday.
The Charleston, Ark. native was pivotal for the HU defense, tallying an average of 43.2 yards per punt, including a GAC record 73-yard punt that was downed at the ECU eight-yard line. It was the second longest punt in Harding history. In addition to his punting numbers, Carmona also made the best of windy situation by nailing a 62-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to trim ECU's lead to 13-9 heading into the locker room.
It was the fourth-longest field goal in NCAA Division II history, the longest at any NCAA level this season and eight yards longer that the previous Harding record.
