Missouri's Lisa Henning earns Big 12 Volleyball honors

Lisa Henning (Missouri), Allison King (Baylor) and Tara Dunn (Oklahoma) have earned Big 12 Volleyball Players of the Week for matches of Oct. 31-Nov. 6. Henning earns her second Offensive Player of the Week honor this season, while Dunn also garners her second Rookie of the Week accolade on the year. This marks the first career honor for King, who was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lisa Henning, Missouri, OH, So., Blue Springs, Mo.

Henning led Mizzou to a pair of wins with back-to-back 20-kill efforts, finishing last week with 46 total kills (5.75 per set) on .380 hitting. The two wins on the week give the Tigers 20 wins in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2004-05. Henning began the week by posting 22 kills on .455 hitting in the Missouri's four-set win at Kansas. Her .455 hitting percentage marked a career-best when posting at least 20 kills. She had just two attack errors on 44 swings while adding four digs and two blocks. The sophomore posted a double-double with 24 kills and 10 digs in the Tigers' four-set win over Baylor on Saturday. For the week, she also averaged 1.75 digs per set, 0.38 service aces per set and 0.50 blocks per set on the week while leading Mizzou with 51.0 total points over the two matches. The Blue Springs, Mo.-native continues to lead all Big 12 attackers with her 4.80 kills per set and 5.36 points per set in Big 12 play. She is second in both categories in overall matches. Henning has seven 20-kill performances this season, all of which have come against league opponents.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Allison King, Baylor, L, Sr., Carrollton, Texas

In two matches last week King racked up a total of 61 digs and averaged 6.78 digs per set. In a five-set win over Texas State, the senior notched a career-high 34 digs, becoming the first Baylor player with more than 30 in over a year. King followed that up with 27 more digs in four sets against Missouri. She sits just 35 digs out of third on the all-time Big 12 career list. For the week, King also recorded a perfect 1.000 reception percentage, making zero errors in 47 total chances. Her 34 digs against Texas State is the second-most in the league this season. King is second in the league in digs per set in overall matches (5.15) and third in Big12-only matches (4.98).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tara Dunn, Oklahoma, OH, Fr., Poth, Texas

Dunn registered her eighth double-double of the year with a team-best 18 kills and 10 digs against No. 13 Iowa State on Wednesday night. The freshman averaged 4.50 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set while also adding one block assist for a team-best 18.5 points. The Poth, Texas-product averaged 4.63 points per set. It marked her sixth match with 15 or more kills this year, and her third highest kill total on the year. In overall matches, Dunn ranks in the top 10 in the league in kills per set (3.10) and points per set (3.55). She is the only freshman on the top 10 points per set list.
