New House Proposal Would Consolidate a Dozen Region 8 Schools

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Legislation approved by the House Education Committee on Wednesday would require school districts with fewer than 350 students to consolidate their administrations.  According to 2002 enrollment figures, the following Region 8 school districts have fewer than 350 students...

-Evening Shade (Sharp Co.), 335

-River Valley (Lawrence Co.), 333

-Delaplaine (Greene Co.), 312

-Cord-Charlotte (Independence Co.), 306

-Stone County, 294

-Randolph County, 270

-Swifton (Jackson Co.), 269

-Williford (Sharp Co.), 263

-Crawfordsville (Crittenden Co.), 230

-Cotton Plant (Woodruff Co.), 218

-Lynn (Lawrence Co.), 211

-Biggers-Reyno (Randolph Co.), 211
