JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A record number of people participated in a benefit for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, or CASA.
About 300 people walked or ran in the 2011 "Run Crazy for CASA" event on Saturday. The event wrapped up around noon at Craighead Forest Park. Carla Borden, executive director, says CASA of the Second Judicial District has already collected more than $9,000.
"(The money) makes it possible for us to pay for the training that's necessary for our advocates and to grow advocates in our other counties," Borden said, "so it's a tremendous boost in our effort to represent as many children as we can."
Borden says her group is already looking forward to the run next year, but CASA is now busy planning its next fundraiser in December.
