MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team finished third after the final day of play the Crusader Classic hosted by Valparaiso University.
Sophomore Ashley Rucker was named tournament MVP, while Rachael Gittings earned her second All-Tournament team honor of the year. Rucker finished with a 215 average in the tournament while Gittings had a 207 average.
A-State began the day with a loss to Nebraska and then lost to Valparaiso in the semi-final round. The Red Wolves rebounded by defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater in the third-place match to finish the tournament in third place.
"We have to find a way to win big matches," ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "Right now we just aren't winning big matches and we need to find a way to do that."
The Red Wolves will return to action Dec. 2-4 at the Sam Houston State Kat Classic in Huntsville, Texas.
