WBC Soccer honored by American Midwest Conference

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (WBC) - The Williams Baptist College soccer team received several honors on Sunday when the conference released its annual awards.

The Eagles received the American Midwest Conference Fair Play and Sportsmanship Award for the second straight season.   The award is voted on by the conference coaches, and goes to the team which displays fair play and sportsmanship.

Coach Shane Stolz described the importance of the award, "At WBC we always pride ourselves on our behavior on and off the athletic field.  This award reflects the attitude desired by our Director of Athletics (Jeff Rider) and entire athletic department."

Williams has four representatives on the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.   Freshman forward Martin Carmona (Buenos Aires, Argentina), junior midfielder Esteban Piccinini (Lambare, Paraguay), sophomore midfielder/defender Lucas Braga (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), and sophomore forward/defender Victor Vouga (Asuncion, Paraguay) are the four being honored.

Also, Williams senior defender Harold Owiti (Nyeri, Kenya) has been honored by making the Academic All-Conference Team.  Owiti met the criteria of having at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and attending the college for at least one full year.
