Law Enforcement Bailing Out on SeMo Community

CHAFFEE, MO - Officials in Chaffee say it's unclear why half the southeast Missouri town's police department, including the chief, quit in the past month.

Three officers have resigned since December 15.

Administrator John Chadd says none of the resignations included a reason.

Police Chief Larry Corn says he's not discussing any of the resignations, including his own.

Officers Wayne Hampton and David Ivester, whose resignations take effect at the end of this month, can't be reached for comment.

Regardless, Chaffee finds itself scrambling to find replacements.
