The Chateau on the Ridge officially opens

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-The Chateau on the Ridge assisted living facility in Paragould is officially open.

A ceremony and open house took place Tuesday afternoon.

Community Director for the Chateau, Brinda McKinney, says people can't wait to see the finished project.

"The citizens are very excited, " McKinney said. "They've just been pouring through the doors to check things out. They're anxious to find out about the new assisted living development facility here in Paragould."

The Chateau on the Ridge is 70, 000 square feet with 59 units and 13 floor plans.

McKinney says the Chateau has a lot to offer people.

"This is a wonderful place for people to come to where they can not only age in place, but age in style. It's a very lovely building. We have wonderful amenities that we offer our residents, but most importantly they can be safe, secure and we can meet the needs for them that they can't meet for themselves."

91 year old, Mary Esther Herget, says she left her home was 120 years old and before this had never been out of her family.

She says she's already settled right in at the Chateau.

"It's warm, it's secure. I feel safe. The neighbors are so nice and, darling, everything about it, I just feel at home."

McKinney say there are a few things that make the Chateau unique.

"Number one is the style which we do things, " McKinney stated. "It's a lovely community and a place where you would want to invite people into your home to see you. We want to make sure our residents maintain their independence, that they are able to do everything they want to do. They come and go as they please. They just have a lot of freedom that you might not see in other long term care facilities."

The Chateau has a twenty-four hour staff on hand, housekeeping and laundry services are available, not to mention covered parking and transportation.

A beauty shop, wellness center and physical therapy clinic are just a few more of the advantages the Chateau has to offer it's residents.

Herget says the staff is wonderful.

"the people that run it are loving, caring, and that means a lot. We have an excellent cook. The meals are good. I don't have to wash a dish. I don't have to cook a meal. I just eat, get up and leave. Everything about it makes me feel good. I'm 91, so by golly, let me have my last years in peace and quiet."
