Nettleton Middle School has Teacher of the Year

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Arkansas Department of Education was at Nettleton Middle School today to award sixth grade social studies teacher Lisa Lacefield with the Arkansas Social Studies Teacher of the Year award.

Lacefield was presented with a plaque and $1, 000 from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Co-workers, students and former students celebrated at a reception after school today.

Lacefield submitted a professional resume, lesson plans, an extended lesson project, an essay explaining why teaching American History is important, and recommendation letter from a professional colleague.

    According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, a person was being held Sunday in the Randolph County jail after being taken into custody by Arkansas State Police in connection with the deaths of two people.
