Middle Tennessee sweeps UALR in first match of Sun Belt Volleyball Tournament

Middle Tennessee swept UALR 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) to open the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 17 in Miami at U.S. Century Bank Arena on the campus of Florida International University.

The Blue Raiders advance to tomorrow's semifinal round to face the winner of the No. 3 seed Arkansas State vs. No. 6 seed North Texas match at 5 p.m. ET.

Middle Tennessee (19-10) outhit UALR .234 to .184 while racking up 47 kills. Alyssa Wistrick and Ashley Adams were the top contributors to MT's offensive attack with both players posting double-digit kills. Wistrick put up 12 and Adams grabbed 11.

Brynne Henderson led MT on defense by racking up 13 digs. Maria Szivos also put up double-digit digs with 11 while posting eight kills.

UALR's Edina Begic posted double-digit kills with 17 but committed 12 attack errors on 45 attempts to post a .111 hitting percentage. The Trojans finished the match with 38 kills.

Allison Wyatt recorded a team-high 14 digs.
