2 charged in slaying at Searcy dialysis office

SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Searcy police say two suspects have been arrested in the slaying of a janitor at a dialysis office.

Police say 24-year-old Zachary Mitchell found dead Oct. 23 at Nephrology Associates. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/trvlbZ ) that 19-year-old Devonte Tre Nelson and 20-year-old Maurice Andre Alexander Jr. are both being held in the White County Jail without bond.

Police say Nelson was arrested in Lexana, Kan., where he was initially held on an unrelated burglary charge. After Searcy investigators questioned him, he was charged in Mitchell's killing.

Alexander was arrested in Searcy.

Police say prosecutors are expected to file capital murder charges against both defendants. It wasn't clear whether they have attorneys.
