Newport Service League raises money for local children

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) – The Newport Service League is hosting aholiday tour of homes to benefit children in need. The tour will take place Sunday,December 4th, and three families will open their homes for a goodcause.

The non-profit organization is selling tickets for $15. Allthe proceeds help children receive warm coats, shoes and other essentials thiswinter. Jennifer Eddington says helping kids is the most important thing the organizationdoes.

"I've been in the group probably for 15 years and still seekids that I took 15 years ago that remember me," Eddington said. "You get thatlittle smile or wave. It means a lot. You know you've added something to theirlife that stuck with them."

The Newport Service League is celebrating 63 years of serviceto the community. Last year, the group raised enough money to clothe 80students with an individual budget of $150 each.
