Highway Commission Opens Bids for Road Improvements in Three Region 8 Counties

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Craighead County.  The purpose of the project is to install a traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 351 in Jonesboro.  Shelby Electric of Memphis was the apparent low bidder for the project at $87,084.  Construction on the project is expected to begin in six to eight weeks, and should be completed by the fall of 2004. \

Another project calls for the resurfacing of approximately 4.5 miles of Highway 67 in Jackson County, extending from Tuckerman northward to Highway 226.  Delta Asphalt of Paragould is the apparent low bidder at $701,374.34.  The project is expected to be completed by mid-2004.

The Highway Commission has also opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Izard County.  The project calls for construction of a bridge on County Road 15 over a branch of Knob Creek.  Mobley Contractors of Morrillton will do the work for $534,172.32.
