MALDEN, MO (KAIT) - A Malden man faces several charges after police say he and two other men burglarized and robbed his cousin and tied him up with an Xbox cord.
Esley D. Cornelius III, 20, of Malden is charged with robbery first degree, kidnapping, burglary first degree, and armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim left his home in Malden for about 15 minutes to go to a convenience store down the street.
When he returned, he found his couch cushions scattered on the floor.
He told police he was confronted by three black males and told to lay on the floor. Then, the suspect tied his hands and feet behind his back with extension cords and the cord for his Xbox game console, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim said the men took two iPhones, his wallet with $1000 cash, and various ID cards. He also said they took $700 from his front pocket and his car keys. Police say the suspects left with most of the man's clothes, an Acer laptop, and his Xbox 360 game console. The suspects also allegedly took $1000 cash out of the man's closet, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim told police he knew one of the suspects to be his cousin, whom he recently met.
Police later found Cornelius III loading his vehicle with bags in Dexter and arrested him on Nov. 7 during a traffic stop.
