JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Jefferson City man is accused of setting a weekend fire that gutted an apartment building in the city.
The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/soiws8) that 39-year-old Don Salcedo was charged Wednesday with first-degree arson and held on $100,000 bond.
Three people were treated for smoke inhalation and 20 needed shelter after the fire broke out shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday. A probable cause statement from police says cameras recorded Salcedo inside the apartment building on three occasions around the time of the fire, at one point igniting something with a lighter.
Salcedo lives about two blocks from the apartment building, which is located about a half-mile from the Capitol building.
Court records did not list an attorney for Salcedo, who does not have a listed phone number.
