Names released after attempted armed robbery in SEMO

DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO (KAIT) – Officials with the Dunklin CountySheriff's Office said two people have been arrested in Clay County, AR after anattempted armed robbery at Lack's Package Store on 15009 State Highway 84 westof Kennett, MO.

According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, Daren OrvilHolyfield, 26, of Sikeston, entered the store Sunday, stated he had a weapon,and that he wanted money. Police say a scuffle ensued between Johnny E. Lack,Jr. and Holyfield before Holyfield left the store and drove west into Arkansas.

Police say Holyfield was later found with Renee Stricklin, 27, ofCorning, AR on a field road where their vehicle was stuck in the mud. Policesay the car used in the robbery was stolen from Corning, AR.

Both Stricklin and Holyfield were turned over to Clay Countydeputies after Kennett Police and Dunklin County deputies obtained permissionto pursue the pair within Clay County jurisdiction, say police.

Holyfield and Stricklin were taken to the Clay County Jail in Piggott,AR, and charges for the Missouri attempted robbery will be filled with theDunklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office; the pair are also facing chargesin Arkansas for automobile theft.

According to investigating officers, the attempted robbery at Lack'sPackage Store was the second store the couple attempted to rob. The first wasthe Express Convenience Store on Highway 53 in Campbell, MO. Charges will befiled for the Campbell incident by the Campbell Police Department.

Both robbery attempts were unsuccessful.
