LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Department of Health has 5,800 flu vaccines available for the state after receiving last week's 3,000-dose shipment.

So far the department has given 180,000 doses, up from the 120,000 to 140,000 typically given during a flu season.

Dr. Sandra Snow of the Health Department says the flu virus quieted down considerably after the holiday season.

The department does not expect to receive any more vaccines this flu season, which ends in March.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now lists Arkansas flu levels as sporadic, meaning few cases are being seen around the state.
