JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- A new certification program is being offered to those who serve alcohol in the state of Arkansas.
The program from the Alcoholic Beverage Control was recently created to train servers, convenience store clerks, and bartenders about the different aspects of selling liquor. Tuesday night a class took place at the Electric Cowboy in Jonesboro. After the class, a test is taken to become certified through the A.B.C.
"I have hundreds and hundred of fate IDs . I've have real IDs so they can compare apples to apples, oranges to oranges. I'm going to not only try to better educate the door people, but also the servers and the bartenders about what to look for and give them tips," said Rick Crisman, who is a Deputy Director with the A.B.C.
Training also covers the effects of alcohol on the body. Classes are free. They are not mandatory, but strongly encouraged.
