Reports: Garrick McGee hired as new UAB head coach

FAYETTEVILLE ( - Arkansas is in need of a new offensive coordinator.

Garrick McGee, who has spent the last two seasons coordinating the Razorbacks' prolific offense, was hired as head coach at Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

McGee, 38, will replace Neil Callaway, who was fired as the Blazers' coach last weekend after going 18-42 in five seasons at the school. McGee interviewed for the job Friday in Atlanta and is expected to be formally introduced at a press conference early next week.

It is unknown whether McGee will coach in Arkansas' upcoming bowl game. The No. 8 Razorbacks (10-2) will find out Sunday whether they will play in the Cotton Bowl or Capital One Bowl.
