BLOOMFIELD, MO - A former Missouri Bootheel jailer is sentenced to prison for stealing drugs and selling them to an inmate.

Randal Jason Vandiver pleaded guilty last week to a felony charge of distribution of a controlled substance, Xanax.  He was sentenced to ten years in prison.  However, after 120 days, the court will consider placing him on probation.

Court records indicate that Vandiver admitted stealing drugs from a Stoddard County evidence locker and selling them to an inmate for between $50 and $100 per sale.

The court dismissed a felony accusation that Vandiver had sexual contact with a female inmate.
