Arkansas State won the Sun Belt Conference regular season championship on Saturday with a win over Troy. The Red Wolves finished SBC play with an unblemished 8-0 record. ASU became only the third program in Sun Belt history to finish league play undefeated. ASU, which has a 10-2 overall record, will play Mid-American Conference champion Northern Illinois in the GoDaddy.com Bowl on January 8.
Arkansas State is the first team in Sun Belt Conference history to win 10 regular-season games.
ASU won its first outright conference championship since 1986.
ASU is just the third school in Sun Belt history to ever go undefeated in SBCplay, joining Troy (8-0) and North Texas in 2004 (7-0), 2003 (7-0) and 2002 (6-0).
