Superbowl Week Means "Super" Sales

Superbowl week means good sales for many national and local businesses according to the National Retail Federation.  Historically, sales of team apparel, new furniture and food and beverages rise drastically during the week before the big game.  According to the National Retail Federation, 1.5 million TV sets will be sold during the week.  And local retailors say they are getting blitzed.

Gary Metz, owner of Metz Brand Source, says business is booming.  For local retailors like Metz, the week can make them winners even before the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots take the field.  He says sales on big screen TVs and High Deffinition TVs are spiking right now.  High Deffinition TVs offer a better picture than conventional TVs.  Metz adds thin plasma screen tv sales seem to be slumping.

For many dropping 3 g's on a TV is simply not in the budget, even with income tax season right around the corner.  That is why they turn to local rental stores like Hometown Rental.  Lisa Hathcoat says they have noticed a slight increase and expect the end of the week to be extremely busy.
