Harding Football's James Kee named Academic All-America

From Harding University

Harding University senior offensive lineman James Kee was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division II First Team on Wednesday. With the honor, Kee became only the fourth Harding student-athlete and the first Harding football player ever to earn 1st Team Academic All-America honors.

The last Harding football player named Academic All-America was Brooks Davis, who was a 2nd Team honoree in 1988.

Kee played in all 11 games for the Bisons in 2011, earning a start at guard against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He was instrumental in Harding's running game that ranked first in Division II with 360.9 yards per game. Kee appeared in 25 games with 12 starts in his career.

A native of Searcy, Ark., Kee is a biochemistry and molecular biology major with a 3.87 grade point average. He has twice been honored as Capital One Academic All-District and was named Academic All-Gulf South Conference in 2009.

Kee is Harding football's fifth Academic All-America honoree. Harding's last 1st Team Academic All-America honoree in any sport was Kendyl Washburn in women's soccer in 2007, and the last male was Kenny Collins in men's basketball in 1986.
