WALNUT RIDGE, AR--The city of Walnut Ridge is investigating a cruelty to animals citation given to a city worker while on the job.

Mayor Glenn Murphy says a city worker was cited by a Lawrence County deputy earlier this week for stomping some puppies to death.

"I was informed by the Chief of Police and the Superintendent of Streets that a city employee was cited for cruelty to animals and it is under investigation at this time," said Mayor Murphy.

Murphy added that the investigation should be complete by Monday and the appropriate action will be taken by the city.
