FAYETTEVILLE, AR - A storm system moving east from New Mexico is expected to bring freezing rain and some snow to far northwest Arkansas early tomorrow.
The storm is likely to be a mixture of rain and snow, but should become freezing rain later, according to the National Weather Service. The storm is expected to be at its worst in the afternoon.
Areas around Fayetteville should see the most freezing rain and snow, while areas around Fort Smith should only see rain.
The weather service says freezing rain is hazardous because it freezes when it hits the ground causing roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, to ice.
Randy Ort, spokesman for the Arkansas Highway Department, says department officials will be watching the weather.
