Branson Entertainer Dies in Car Wreck

February 4, 2004 - Posted at 4:47 p.m. CDT

BRANSON, MO - A long-time performer with Branson's oldest show has been killed in a traffic wreck in the southwest Missouri town.

Police say 47-year-old Carl Clifton Wagner drove his car off Missouri 76, into a power transformer and into a Pizza Hut restaurant.

Wagner, of Hollister, died at a hospital a short time after the crash last night.

He was the emcee at Presley's Country Jubilee, where he had worked for 14 years and never missed a show.

Pressle's employees say Wagner had a special ability to connect with the audience and make them his friends.
