Florida's Patric Young, a 6-foot-9, 247-pound sophomore forward from Jacksonville, Fla., was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 18.5 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one block and one steal in leading the Gators to wins over Arizona and Rider. Young made 77.3 percent (17-22) of his field goals in the two games while registering a double-double in each contest. Against Arizona he set a new career-high for points with 25, on 12-of-15 shooting, and added 10 rebounds. Young followed up his strong performance against the Wildcats with a 12-point and 10-rebound effort in 28 minutes vs. Rider.
Florida's Bradley Beal, a 6-foot-3, 209-pound freshman guard from St. Louis, Mo., was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 13.5 points, five rebounds, two assists and 0.5 steals in leading the Gators to wins over Arizona and Rider. Beal scored nine points and added six boards against Arizona. He followed up his strong performance against the Wildcats with 18 points and four boards against Rider.
