WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Federal authorities will pursue charges against the owner of a towing service suspected of taking part in an auto-theft ring, a district judge said Friday.
40-year-old Stanley Bedford of Crawfordsville, was arrested late Tuesday and appeared today before West Memphis District Judge William P. Rainey.
He was arrested after a police officer noticed a number of cars and car parts around Bedford's property and discovered that a number of them had been reported stolen.
The judge said 33 federal charges are pending against Bedford.
Deputy prosecutor James Hale, Jr. said federal law enforcement officers would take Bedford to Tennessee to be held.
Officials say they believe Bedford picked up cars on the interstate and streets surrounding Memphis, Tennessee.
