Kids make homemade Christmas gifts just in time for the holiday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Public Library held a special Kids Craft Day Monday to help kids make Christmas gifts just in time for the holiday.

With Christmas less than a week away, kids packed the library on Monday to create special gifts for their loved ones. Twelve craft stations were set up throughout the Round Room with different themed ideas at each table. Children were given two tickets to use to make their crafts.

"We have everything from Christmas themed pins to paper ornaments," Assistant Children's Librarian, Karen Newberry said.

Volunteers were on hand to help children with their craft and wrap it when they finished.

Elise Knight was at the library and said she had a fun time making Christmas gifts for her mom and dad.

"This is a scratch-off ornament. This I'm probably going to wrap in the same paper as I wrapped the wreath... with a purple bow," Elise said.

Creed Orrick was also at the event. He was making a wreath for his mother and said it was fun and only took about "ten to fifteen minutes" to make.

The library will hold one additional session Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. and a final craft session will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The library will be closed for Christmas beginning December 23 through the 26. The Jonesboro Public Library will reopen Tuesday, December 27.
