LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state has released its list of 57 school districts that will have to consolidate under Arkansas' new public education plan, including fourteen districts in Region 8.

In the special session that concluded Friday, the Legislature ordered administration consolidation of districts with fewer than 350 students.

Districts can choose partners with which to consolidate, and they can proceed with plans if the state approves.  Affected districts have a deadline of April 1 to submit their plans to the state.  The state Department of Education will pair up districts that don't submit plans.

Consolidation is to be submitted by July 1.  The Legislature set aside $37 million in incentive money to smooth the transition.

According to the Arkansas Education Association, the following Region 8 schools are ordered to consolidate their administrations:

-Cotton Plant

-Evening Shade

-Mount Pleasant

-Randolph County

-River Valley

-Rural Special (Stone Co.)

-Stone County
