Blytheville residents to vote on proposed sales tax

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - New details regarding Blytheville's repayment of delinquent taxes.

Blytheville residents will vote on a sales tax to help the city pay back over $3 million this spring.

Tuesday night, the city council approved a special election on March 13, 2012 that will decide a 15 month, 1 cent sales tax.

The tax will pay off the city's multimillion dollar debt to the Internal Revenue Service.

Since October, the city has been paying $10,000 a month on delinquent taxes.
