CORNING, AR (KAIT) – The holiday weekendgets off to a bad start in Corning after a car on Hwy 67 hit a pedestrian.
According to Lieutenant Jimmy Leach,with the Corning Police Department, a woman from Melbourne was struck whiletrying to cross the highway in front of the Corning Wal-Mart at 8:28 Fridaymorning.
He says the victim was alert and talkingwhen paramedics arrived, but the extent of her injuries is unknown. The womanwas airlifted to The Med in Memphis, but Lt. Leach says the helicopter may havestopped in Jonesboro.
The woman's name has not been releasedpending the notification of her family.
