JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - A company has been chosen to provide non-stop round-trip flights from Jonesboro to Lambert St. Louis International Airport.
Jonesboro Municipal Airport manager Philip Steed says the U.S. Department of Transportation issued an order on Thursday for Multi-Aero Inco., which does business as Air Choice One. Steed told the Jonesboro Sun (http://bit.ly/uChfkG) that Air Choice One will provide Essential Air Service for one year.
The service was provided by SeaPort, which announced in November it would leave the Jonesboro market when a replacement air carrier was chosen. The airline said it was struggling to turn a profit even with the federal EAS subsidy, which was to be cut because Jonesboro is within a 90-mile radius of Memphis International Airport.
Air Choice will receive an annual subsidy of $1.5 million.
