STEELE, MO - Quick thinking by a commercial vehicle inspector in southeast Missouri is keeping nearly $3 million worth of marijuana off the streets.
During a routine inspection of a tractor-trailer rig at a weigh station near Steele Sunday evening, inspector Ron Abmeyer became suspicious. A highway patrol police dog was brought in and sniffed out about 1,800 pounds of marijauna hidden in watermelon bins and concealed with transmission fluid.
Officers believe the load was coming from Texas and was bound for the state of New York.
