Local judge fighting with FEMA to get more $ for damaged roads

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Judge Jerry Shipman told Region 8 News he's fighting with FEMA to get more money to repair damaged roads in his county.

According to Shipman, he's filed for nearly $48,000,000 worth of public aid. However, Shipman says he may only be reimbursed for $2,500,000.

Shipman claimed FEMA sent in teams to perform an assessment after county employees already performed one.

"We've had school buses stuck because of the flooding that lost the aggregate material and it's been real difficult on us," Shipman told Region 8 News.

Shipman said he's waiting to hear back from FEMA regarding a disaster exit briefing form he signed under protest.

Shipman told Region 8 News that it's unlikely the county will get reimbursed for the full $48,000,000.
