Be Sweet and Healthy This Valentine

According to researchers you can now have your chocolate and eat it too.

The good news about the healthy benefits of chocolate comes just days before the sweetest of all holidays, Valentines day.  The news also comes at the same time as many people are turning towards healthier choices in their daily meals.

According to researchers, growing evidence seems to support the fact flavonoids in chocolate actually lower the death rate from heart disease.  Chocolate can also lower blood pressure and increase blood flow to the brain according to researchers at Harvard Medical School.

While the news is mostly good, Shannon Gallagher a local nutritionist says there are better ways to increase flavonoids in your body without the fats of chocolate.  She says vegetables and fruits are a healthy alternative that increases your health while getting rid of the fatty sugars.
