Police find missing Batesville man dead

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – Police in Independence County has found the man missing since December 30 dead.

According to the Independence County Sheriff's Department, 63-year-old Laurence McKinney was found dead by the Independence County River Craft Deputies.

The sheriff's department says no foul play is suspected.

McKinney went missing after checking out of a hospital Friday. He was last seen on foot at 6:30 Friday morning near the hospital. Police said they have been searching for the man since Friday.

A family member tells Region 8 News McKinney went to the hospital because he thought he had chest pains. That same family member said McKinney was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, house shoes and a blue sweat shirt. He was not wearing a coat.
