ASU Football team receives proclamation from Mayor Harold Perrin

JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) — Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin issued an official proclamation at Tuesday night's Jonesboro City Council meeting recognizing the Arkansas State football for its accomplishments this season and its upcoming game in the Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 8.

"Being a graduate of Arkansas State University and having served on the Board of Trustees at the school it means a great deal to me tonight to issue this proclamation," Perrin said.

Senior offensive lineman Tom Castilaw and junior quarterback Ryan Aplin both thanked Mayor Perrin and the city of Jonesboro for all of their support this season and helping the Red Wolves go undefeated at ASU Stadium represented the A-State football team.

The school was also represented by interim head coach David Gunn and Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee who both also thanked the city and the mayor for their support this past season.

"I can truly tell you that this has been an exciting time for us and our football team," Gunn said. "The support of the city and the entire state for these young men and the other 100-plus that are on campus right now realize that we aren't just playing for ourselves but this entire community and this entire state to the best of our ability and show the nation that the best keep secret in the nation is Jonesboro."

ASU will take a 10-2 record and the nation's second longest winning streak, nine-games, into the Bowl on Jan.8 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
