Jonesboro, AR--Ron Smiley reporting

Gun Locks now Available Free of Charge

Every eight hours a child is seriously wounded or killed in a firearm related accident.  Now thanks to the promise of then Governor George Bush a national campaign has begun to make sure there are no excuses when it comes to gun safety.

Project Child Safe is a nationwide program run by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.  THe Foundation is giving away twenty million gun locks free of charge across the nation.  This weekend they pulled into region eight to make several deliveries.  The Craighead County Sheriffs department says they hope everyone take advantage of the gun locks.  Saying they cannot imagine the pain parents go through when they find out their child has become a statistic.  Injured by a firearm.

If you are interested in picking up your own free gun lock you need to contact your local police or sheriffs department.
