LOCUST GROVE, AR (KAIT) – A Region 8 woman was killed Saturday night in Independence County after she was struck by another vehicle that failed to yield to a stop sign. According to a report posted on the Arkansas State Police website, Maude Paul of Locust Grove was killed in the accident. Two other people were injured.
Police indicated Maude was traveling with her husband, who was driving, south on State Highway 25 when Christopher Colbath of Bentonville failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 25 and Highway 14. Police stated Colbath was driving east on Highway 14 when his vehicle hit the passenger side. After the accident, Paul's vehicle overturned and rested in a ditch.
The report states Colbath and Geary Paul were transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Science Hospital in Little Rock.
Police report Colbath to have been wearing a seat belt. It's unclear if the other two were wearing seat belts.
