POINSETT COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A part-time Lepanto Police Officer is in trouble with the law after he was arrested for public sexual indecency, and harassment.

According to the arrest warrant provided by Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington, 44-year-old Donald Evance was arrested after police say he made improper contact with a 17-year-old girl.

The warrant states, Evance approached the 17-year-old at a gas station and asked to speak with her in a backroom. According to the victim, Evance kept popping at his taser while asking her questions.

The report also states, Evance kept approaching the girl, and unzipped her pockets on the back of her jeans. Evance eventually walked away after another employee came around the corner.

Ellington says Evance resigned his part-time police officer position with the City of Lepanto.

Evance is charged with public sexual indecency and harassment. His next court date is set for February 16 in Lepanto District Court.
